ART TO CURE

Sometimes when we think of artists, we think of the recluse, hiding away in some drab, multi colored (through splashes of paint) loft, droning away and embellishing their wondrous minds on to some sort of material… only to present a finished product that the untrained eye see’s as unfinished… yet somehow still moves the tides inside of us.

Of course thats not always true. Sometimes it is, but sometimes, a lot of times, art has a social conscious about it. A deeper message. An association with something thats deeper, and more resonant than we can wrap our words and feelings around. We just know, this piece can change the world if only we can make sure everyone sees it.

Los Angeles’ own Jocelyn Marsh is one of those artists! When you see her work, you’ll be struck by a chord inside of you that screams… WHAT IS THIS?! I HAVE TO HAVE IT! I HAVE TO KNOW IT! Well thanks to our friend Jen over at Art Duet you can access the wonderful mind of Jocelyn Marsh!

Jen and Art Duet have joined the board of the charity Art Mere Art Pere, benefitting Livestrong!  The online and live art auction were started by Brooke and Courtney Kivowitz & Jim Toth… ‘Art Mere Art Pere’ translates literally to ‘our mother, our father” and is a tribute to Marsha Kivowitz and Jim Toth, Sr.  who lost their lives to cancer. 

You can surf the online auction now to pick up some amazing pieces from the likes of some of todays more wonderful (and altruistic) artists like Brandon Boyd of Incubus, Amy Malloy, Lindsay Cowles, Ming Ong, and SO many more. Check out the list of all the artists here.

You can also join in the live fun, support, and activism by hanging out with the likes of Lance Armstrong, Matthew McConaughey, Nas, and Reese Witherspoon the night of the event! Here are all the details:

What:
An evening of art, photography and music to raise funds for cancer, benefiting LIVESTRONG CANCER NAVIGATION RESEARCH CENTERS. Featured art will include works from various American and European artists. Money will be raised through admission donations and the sale of silent auction items. Cocktails and hors d’ oeuvres will be served. Donations will be accepted through the LIVESTRONG website or at the door.
